Commitment

A system for reporting and responding to sexual and gender-based violence

Aix Marseille Université's Service pour le Respect et l'Égalité (SpRE): a pioneering commitment.

a department dedicated to Respect and Equality

Aix Marseille Université has set up the Service pour le Respect et l'Égalité (SpRE), an in-house, independent service that is unique in France. The SpRE acts as a one-stop shop for situations of SGBV and all forms of discrimination, offering a place to listen, prevent and deal with them. The SpRE's multi-disciplinary team of legal experts, psychologists and social workers provides caring, confidential support. The service is open to students and all university staff. Victims or witnesses can report acts of discrimination, harassment, racism, SGBV, LGBTiphobia and transphobia, even if they are from outside the university. The SpRE aims to prevent discrimination through awareness-raising and training, and to deal with reports using appropriate approaches (mediation, coaching, reframing), respecting the autonomy and wishes of those making the reports, with the possibility of an anonymous alert.
